The military does. It's called - or used to be called - zulu time. It's only used by guys who -must- use it. Air plane drivers, strategic guys, comm center operators. Everyone else uses the local time. I suspect if UTC / zulu were really

There is a lot to be said for baggage. You mess with stuff like that at great peril. We already have a great example for this: the military. The military operates on zulu time for things like air operations. You want to know exactly when

The player had been unemployed for a while, benefits ran out, savings depleted. Where the player went wrong was letting things get so desperate that choices were limited.

I didn't see racism there. There are a whole lot of white folks embedded in their own failed culture in the U.S. Edit: never mind - I read the wrong post.

My father passed last summer. He had a busy life online, post-retirement - built and ran a website for a yacht club, used the computer to book stand-by travel with his former employer (American Airlines), online banking, etc. Nothing where

I don't know the suburbs of Chicago. Where I live we have enough public transportation (bus) and a decent library system. We don't need the massive public infrastructure you have because we're not a Big City.

In my experience, yes. But I haven't lived everywhere - a fellow who lives in LA might have a different experience than a guy living in Wisconsin.

No. My kids were not high school age at the time, and we didn't live in the area for that high school. I would have had no qualms about it, if it were otherwise.

My wife taught at a 80% Hispanic majority high school in Dallas in the 90s. The gang violence on white kids thing just didn't happen there. Gangs, yes. Gang violence, no.

Pong was old school in 1985. Atari 5200 had been released a few years earlier. It wasn't exactly caveman days, ya know.

I was there, in 1985. I don't think I would have thought it magical, or invented by aliens, just a neat bit of hardware. And it would have beat the krep that Kirk was forced to use on Star Trek.

The serial consoles won't work if the parent poster removes all local accounts and goes 'LDAP only'. Unless I've misunderstood something about that. It happens. We do the redundant Active Directory thing. It didn't help during the DR exer

Why can't we still kill the local login If LDAP ever goes down you might want to retain the ability to login to your box. I ran into a problem similar to this on a recent DR exercise. Active Directory (an LDAPish service) was down. Was g

I have been told - first by the CEO of a retail chain [1] - that 'a college degree' isn't so much for talent, or fit, as a proof that the applicant can stick with something for a few years. He proved his point by hiring me [2] for a job. A
