Some great suggestions on what would be interesting to study have already been made but - I suspect that this is about something more - it is about redirecting a career. Looking for some rigour and a new purpose. If miriadis wants to stay i

Trouble is - web site design is very fashion oriented. You can tell a 2011 site from a 2012 site. I find a lot of sites are very similar and put it down to a common fashion more often than copying. Font selection, icon colours and general l

Unless I am going blind (perfectly possible) the link makes no mention of Pro - just RT. Thus the editorialised link title was erm misleading.

I agree that var a = new Array(1,2,3,4,5); is an old construct and should be replaced by var a = [1,2,3,4,5]; but the form var a = new Array(10); can be very effective when you need an array with n elements and you are not in a position to

Yup $1,000 (with a keyboard) gets you a tablet with 23Gb of storage. For $200 you can get a Chromebook which comes with a hard drive - plus you could get an iPad with the change or save a pile of money and get a Nexus 10 for $400. Still tr

I remember a lecturer of mine many years ago decrying so many people who claimed 10 or 15 years experience when in fact (as he said) they had had 1 years experience repeated 10 or 15 times. Of course, we are all interested in hiring folks t

You will probably be amazed at the number of web sites and phone apps that have had access to your contact list - just to get something done. Easy to forget when and when. Could even be that it was someone you know who has your email addres

How do you know "they" are using your account rather than just using your email address as a "from". That used to be the most common way of trying to get SPAM past people's simpler filters. Might be worth checking what would happen if such

I dont get this. Microsoft encourage developers to write what they call Windows 8 JavaScript apps but then treats normal JavaScript actions (like creating or manipulating HTML5 elements) as toxic. I suppose this is again part of the legacy

Pitching the retail price of Windows 8 at the same price you can buy a very effective Chromebook has got to be good for one of the two businesses.

I would say that for an average group of candidates the results were about right. About 10% of "programmers" can write a simple program that solves a simple problem when asked - most can't.

So - the base model is priced at $899 to which you will want to add a "Type Cover" - another $100 or so - and you get a $1,000 tablet with 64GB of storage. Oh - and it comes with a stylus - what - just like the Windows CE devices in the yea

One of the points of the post was that switching from IE to FireFox is not a straightforward option. There is a lot of code running that depends upon features, functionality (and perhaps the idiosyncrasies) of IE.

Good write-up of a lot of key issues facing corporates and thus by implication all ISVs. Minor quibble - the Compaq iPaq had supplanted the Palm offerings as the "cutting edge" with colour, great sound quality and a lot of (admittedly batte
