lots of knowledgeable comments being made here already so clearly this is an interesting area but - what is the use case for this? I don't understand why I might need it.

Yet another site with a page blanking "pop-up" demanding participation long before you have any opportunity to evaluate what is on offer. My tolerance of this is zero. I do not read the page - potential audience size -1.

Yes - the point I was trying to make was the "pitch" needs to be to the enterprise while the functionality needs to meet the needs of the developers/support people who would actually use it. I think that this is a tough thing to get right.

Selling tools to tool builders is a tricky proposition. Apps like these sell to enterprises (large and small). You are almost certainly talking to the wrong people (although I am sure potential users looked like the right people to start wi

The problem with writing Operating Systems for general purpose hardware (such as the PC) is that it is expected to work with just about any components - no matter where they are sourced. Sure there are "reference" specs but at the end of th

Fair point: If you want to disrupt an industry which is entrenched by the legal/regulatory system - you have to find ways around it. Think education, health, law ... Any more? In fact from the list of the oldest professions only the "oldest

My current app involves location and mapping using multiple co-ordinate systems - so trigonometry on a curved surface for starters.

Don't forget sales taxes as well. Depending upon where you are you are probably paying something like 20% VAT (TAV or whatever) - quoted in the consumer price. In the USA, they have the annoying habit of excluding sales tax (presumably on t

This is silly - if it is published on the web then the text is in the public domain. Side-stepping the suggested restrictions is trivial for anyone with any web skills - so they will just upset the rest - presumably those the web site is in

Not exactly streaming out of the showrooms are they? They remain very much a toy but maybe one day someone will be able to build one that will work on a practical day to day basis. I feel there is a lot of mileage (pun intended) in the "die

It might be "over" for those eager to hype the "next big thing" but for the rest of us it is only just happening. We now have services as reliable as any we could run in house available to us. Even when my start-up is big enough to need in

You need a few points yourself first (no idea what the threshold is). Post some interesting items or join in the debates in the "comments". I think you can probably see that this is a guard against "sock puppets" being used to promote spam

Its actually OpenID and users can use more accounts than just a Google one. Everyone should support OpenID and OAuth with a site specific sign up as a reluctant fall-back.

Time deadlines from a solicitor - or anyone else other than a judge are meaningless. They are intended to get a rushed reaction - take plenty of time. It costs them money to start a case don't forget - so they wont rush in the normal course

Take a good look at OpenID and oAuth - that way you can offer secure sign up / login without having to manage user passwords - well unless you offer that as an additional option.
