Except, um, you can use it in the States. Spin up a cheap VPS in one of their licensed countries, http://www.lowendbox.com/tag/uk/ share it with some friends, ssh -D, point Spotify at your proxy... not hard.

Netflix is merely a peripherally-involved third party in the recent Comcast/Level(3) drama. But I guess being a big enough AWS customer might help them get problems fixed when they arise. I sincerely doubt that Netflix would be acquired by

From what I have heard, they are not. They are literally going full speed ahead moving all of their infrastructure (aside of streaming) over to AWS.

Graphite definitely does not get enough love. It's an amazing piece of software, though can be a little rough around the edges sometimes -- I imagine it's improved a lot over the last year. The idea to add markers for code deploys is great

Agreed. (Still not quite as bad as the Adobe Reader updates, though. My god.) Hopefully you'll have the option to use Java on OS X packaged like it is on Linux.

Aligning the Java release schedules for OS X and basically all other platforms would be fantastic. Rather than some kind of deprecation, this actually makes OS X a first-class citizen in the Java ecosystem.
