Looks like it is using suid pulseaudio to load the exploit into the kernel. I don't think RHEL5 systems install pulseaudio by default. Also note that this is a local exploit, you need access to a user account on the system. ETA: I just trie

Database portability isn't the only reason to use a DB abstraction layer. They provide a way to better integrate the data from the DB with your language's data types and development model. Not to mention making it easier to plug in caching

Monty talked a little about Oracle at his talk at LinuxFest Northwest. Video can be found here - http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1431407 Basically, he said Oracle owns MySQL in name only. Most of the brains behind it are already working wi

That's exactly what I'm asking. Is the backend also in Java then? So that debugging front and backend is all integrated? My impression from what I've read is that it is strictly front end Java to Javascript conversion, not both sides. (in m

How does this make things easier? I find FF + FireBug to be a pretty good dev environment for the front end. The problem is integrated debugging with the back end of things, whether that is PHP, Python or whatever.

How does a Twitter account become 'infected'? From reading the article this sounds like a Windows virus that has infected the user's computer and is using their Twitter credentials to spread it to their followers. So technically the account

I'm being lazy about the search, depending on the random distribution to keep work from overlapping too much instead of taking the time to keep track of what has been done, or implementing a systematic search of the possible combinations. M

According to the rules you can append up to 5 random chars. But you don't have to. The potential for case changes in the words really makes the keyspace much larger, since we currently don't know the length of the words.
