Interesting. The Apple MacBook Pro website makes no distinction between the models as to the color support. They all say "millions of colors", and as someone who doesn't deal with colors for a living I would expect them to have identical support.
- jimboyoungblood 17y agoThey do- they all have 6-bit panels (as does every virtually every other laptop currently sold)
- GHFigs 17y agoTechnically, a 6-bit display can display all of the same colors that an 8-bit display can. What it can't do is display all of them at the same time. Edit: Why all the drive-by downvoting? This is true to the best of my knowledge.
- philwelch 17y agoI remember 16 color systems that could load different palettes of 16 colors each, too. Doesn't make it a >16 color system.
- GHFigs 17y agoI didn't say they were the same thing, or that 6-bit displays were not 6-bit displays.
- jhickner 17y agoThis is actually kind of an important point. I don't know what you're being downvoted for. The upshot is that you really only notice the 6bit/8bit difference on large, smooth gradients.
- CamperBob 17y agoBecause what you stated is completely fictional?
