I found this super interesting - especially as all the data I've written code to manipulate has been small enough that I haven't needed to optimize my code, so I've never had to think in this direction. I think my favorite pa

Very interesting and I love how much thought the author has put into the build system. I don't like the separation of of interface and implementation at the file level. I feel like having to type the same thing twice header-file-style

Rust was a Mozilla side project for a while. Then (if I'm remembering the posts right), they laid off most of the team.

Very interesting approach, thanks for taking the time to write it! I'll be evaluating my own projects with these guidelines- I think I've structured some of them like this without thinking about WHY

I agree, but I think this is largely the fault of OS Vendors, who design deskop creation frameworks that are usually some combination of hard to use, not very stable, not powerful enough, ugly, or not cross-platform. I'm sympathetic to

Needing the pkl CLI adds a runtime dependency I'd rather not have. Is there any way to use pkl from Go without needing to shell out? Maybe Go library that calls a wasm blob or something?

In a similar vein, it's been incredible to watch the Cambrian explosion of plugins since NeoVim introduced deep Lua integration and configurability.

If I'm reading this correctly, you think juniors should live without formatters because they need to learn to format manually? I entirely disagree. Juniors have to learn so many more important things - how to logically structure code,

I rarely go back to my notes either (except with ripgrep), but a good chunk of the value for me is psychological - when I take a note I can evict the idea from my mind to focus on something higher priority.

It's a good idea, but I think it still relies on people taking the effort to be responsible, which just doesn't seem to work long term...

I switched to iTerm2 a few years ago due to blurry fonts on zoom with Terminal.app . Wonder if that's still a problem? A few months ago I switched to WezTerm and, after some config wrestling, I've been very happy using it ( https:

I see the whisper transcription article. Is there an easy way to limit it to, say $100 worth of transcription a month and then stop till next month? I want to transcribe a bunch of speeches but I want to spread the cost over time

I agree it doesn't scale well as there are no loops/functions, but there's a lot of good tooling around YAML that other config languages lack: - mature libs for most languages - VScode plugin + Jsonschema for auto completion

Love this comment and I agree with basically everything. What are you using for configuration these days? I've fallen back to YAML because at least its already used for a lot of tools, and has comments, jsonschema support in VSCode giv
