I dunno, to me the whole 'abc coders are xyz' is a heuristic. I value curiosity and I find that devs that are solid at a wide variety of paradigms often get there through curiosity. So if someone tells me they are learning Clojure

Very true. I just started playing basketball for the first time in over 20 years. I'm 31 and pretty overweight (300+ at 5"11') and I've been playing for three weeks. After the first week I got my ass kicked by my in-shap

You're missing the forest for the trees. The example was illustrative. In general, when you see an example that explains a complex issue you should assume that it is significantly simplified and therefore will not be realistic.

One issue I have with ad hoc naming convention is that while they may make the first month of learning nice and easy they usually don't have the nice synthesizing effect where all of your notations come together beautifully. Math is te

Right. If one interpretation is wildly wrong and there is another blindingly obvious interpretation that is correct and relevant... Why would we ever give someone the benefit of the doubt?

The dude/dudette figured it out on their own which is what math is actually about. Who cares if it's well known? Knowing a fact because you learned it in a class is cool and all but it's not the only way to acquire knowledge,

To be honest, this project is going the wrong direction. Rather than trying to get programming languages to look like human language, we need to get human language closer to computer language. By this I mean that every argument I've ev

Same. I guess my takeaway is that I'm happy people are looking into this because in ten (or twenty (or a hundred)) years this research will hopefully have paid off. I, however, want nothing to do with it. Also, they don't do natur
