Plus, it is only short term thinking, to not write it as 000001987, for example. And what sort of long term thinking, wants all that extra electricity used to denote pre-zeros endlessly, thus increasing data transmission, disk space usage,

I watch multiple corp's mail logs extensively, this is not even remotely a common thing. Worse, I know at least 5 or 6 people personally, which do catch all. It seems like a very poor method to reliably catch spammers.

Twins are identical platforms. Some studies show political leanings as genetically derived. Each human views the world with different senses, yet imagine all sensory input being significantly less divergent. Same taste. Smell. I think yo

Within 20 years every newborn will be gene edited. Likely, human intelligence and world view will end up being derived from a handful of genes, thus further blinding humanity to data outside of our worldview. Imagine a world where everyone

A good reputation is hard to earn, and easy to lose. A bad reputation is even more difficult to lose, realistically it never goes away. Ever. Google has a bad reputation these days. No amount of PR will help. Ever. (Doubt my above logic?

Yes, I actually notice the air movement cooling me, as my basement is nice and cool in the summer. I also reverse direction from time to time, so I get an even workout of "turn" during the oval parts of the loop. As I age, I'

I have a basement, and use that to work out. (Canuck here, this is more reliable for me, than convincing myself to work out at -40C or +40C.) I have a bike machine, which works well in front of a TV for some of my workout. Yet I found wal

Right, yet the employee's emotionalism here, stems from many employers making this an emotional event. So my "no reason for it" was stated with this in mind. As an employer, I'd like to know. Other employers seem to be

I think it's a shame, that negotiations have to end up so... damaging. There's no reason for it, but ego, and emotionalism on both sides. Saying: "I'm at a point where remote matters to me quite a bit, and I won't

Our first century of nonintervention was unquestionably based on the thought that entangling ourselves in European wars would drain us dry. Saying an element of that doesn't still remain is just incorrect, it is broadly the same idea

By using "only motivation" in your response, you are indicating you believe it to have been a motivation for non-intervention. It wasn't. At all. Period. Even if Roosevelt's goal wasn't to sit back and make a pr

Surely you realise your language implies intent. Not wanting to spill their blood, not wanting to enter a conflict which (at the time) seemed only to aid old, dying empires (eg France, UK), means the goal in not entering the conflict, was a

During early WWII, prior to Pearl Harbour, the US used to place supplies on the US side of the Canadian/US border. We'd then "steal" those supplies, thus allowing the US to avoid breaking non-aggression treaties, and (as

Plus, -30C in tents isn't a good thing. The article claims there is insulation in the units he built, vapor barriers. This is a massive difference over a tent. A live-or-die difference, especially if one is sick with a cold or flu.

Yes, and oil converted to plastic sequesters CO2. Every plastic bag, every CD, is sequestered CO2. Of course, plastic is a problem on its own. I don't like it, its usage. Yet I am a realist, and in as such, believe that (sadly), every

I did not indicate your worth, or lack of worth, to the Chinese state. Instead, I stated that people are not granted exit VISAs, or passports, if not deemed worthy of one. It seems as if you are attempting to twist my words a bit here.
