I've only had a shower in one of the places I've worked in the last 15 years I've been biking to work. I think the need for a shower is a common misunderstanding. One thing that helps immensely is having an entirely separat

It's not circular, it's what maturation looks like. Yeah, Json's great - lots of people are using it for lots of things. You could argue it's lack of being schema-bound is a great advantage, and you'd be right, an

Barnes and Noble and Borders effectively destroyed the independent book stores of the nation, because at the time they had a better business model. I don't have a lot of sympathy for their business model getting the same treatment fro

I think #2 is just dead wrong. The easiest way to change your status - whether that's income or losing your junior title - is to move jobs. I think the real reason we see so few junior devs now is they just aren't good for the c

The people I worked with had a lot of fun with it. They'd dress it up like me, prank me by putting things in the way I couldn't see, etc. Occasionally they'd lose their composure at talking to it and start chuckling, the un

Had one of these at our office. I used it as a remote worker on a team across the country. Few things - the author's wish list is out of date. Mine I could drive into a dock and it would charge the whole thing and the iPad. The dev

Really cool. I showed the a11y geeks in our design group this and they're already thinking about approaches they could take to embed this into the CI process for our UI libraries.

I don't care about any of that. I'm fat and old now. I care about the danger of very high speed users who don't have the skill to handle their machines in close quarters with me, my wife, my kid on the bike paths.

You're missing a few things. One, bike paths here are designed for low speed traffic, and narrow. In the last two years I've seen a lot of crashes from ebikes on the bike path I ride to work. Two, they are practically motor cycle

Opinion: Bike sharing will never be more than barely above break even. I am a big bike advocate. I have 12 bikes downstairs, I've raced, and nearly every vacation I've taken in the last 15 years has been bike related. I don'

Logging all your e-bike miles on strava is kind of lame. Even in your screen shots you can see you're taking KOM segments that others enjoy competing for from people, and I doubt those are other e-bike users. The whole point of the s

It's also pretty much common sense. In a car, or on a bike, sometimes something ahead of you makes you slow down. The problem comes in when the bicycles are ignored, and "right hooked" by cars turning through the bike lane

What is functionally different about that illustration other than the cyclist having to make odd movements when going straight - which would be incredibly confusing to oncoming cars turning left?

Why is REST so popular? Because it's easy to implement and works for lots of use cases. I'm sorry that you found places it doesn't, but in the real world, having been through that SOAP pain it's being compared to, I&#x

I like to have two resumes. One is optimized for getting past HR and screeners. It should check the boxes the job posting has, and leave out anything that indicates your age, unless they specifically ask for 10+ years of experience. The ot
