Brave is crapware and always has been. If you actually care about privacy rather than want to pay lip service to some marketing, then there are better options.

The girlfriend has a TV that blew up. Occasionally she powers it up to see if it works or not again. This blows the breakers to her apartment. So she leaves it there for a couple of months and tries again. Of course it blows the breakers in

Unlikely on both counts. Realistically speaking, the problem with crypto is that you will always have to go against a nation state level entity's tax office. And that's not someone you can win a fight with unless you deal in real

I am always frowned upon when I describe our product as a monolith with network hops. These just add more network hops, complexity, latency and projects to upgrade every 30 seconds.

M600 idles around 5-8 watts. If you spank it hard it gets up to 12W. That has a 500Gb SATA SSD and 8Gb of RAM and ethernet. Note that the M600 does not have any active cooling. The entire unit is a big heatsink. The thing will run as a head

This is the correct solution. What I see a lot of is people trying to cram all sorts of shit into a Pi and expecting everything to work properly. I actually wrote a fairly small event-driven kernel for AVR parts a few years ago called XOC &

I wouldn't go too far down the "community support" thing with the RPi foundation. Careful if you say anything negative, even in a constructive tone, in case Liz shuts your threads down. I had some problems with brownouts on t

Oh no they are shit. And I used to design embedded systems years ago. I know exactly what I'm talking about. And you basically outlined it: they are bad quality and we have all these power problems and here's the insane list of

They're all shit. Get a Lenovo mini PC off eBay and stick Debian on it. I replaced my shitty Pi with a Lenovo M600. If you want a dependable computer, stay away from pseudo-embedded hardware.

I had one of those. I remember taking to the Apple Store and they actually suggested I'd caused it. That lead to a pretty funny and loud conversation where I cost them a bunch of sales. I walked out with a new one that didn't do t

I'd definitely rather write XSLT than YAML festering in the same pot as go-template.

XML has superset defined functionality of standardised schemas, transformations and query. The same is not true for s-expressions. I've not looked at KDL before but a quick scan suggests it's interesting. I will look into it.

Actually you should never use attributes in XML at all to represent data. Your first example is correct. Everyone is just confused because people who didn't know this designed HTML. But also everyone is confused because HTML and XML ar

Completely agree on all points. But there is something special about XML: everyone has failed to make something better.

Is JSON XML yet? Nearly! I’m going to invent Baz’s 11th law of computing here: any data format that isn’t XML will evolve into a badly specified version of XML over time.

We used this. Then we realised none of our guys have any idea how to build systems that are resilient to the failures we simulated. So they swept it under the rug and just cross fingers nothing happens.

You can run a digital camera like that too. I am more interested in composition than camera set up and spend most of my time shooting in aperture priority. At best I'll tweak the white balance but the camera mostly just deals with that

Actually this is potentially wrong. A $300 lens is objectively better than a $5 smartphone lens. A $2000 lens may be objectively better than a $300 but it depends what you're standing in front of and you. The Nikkor Z 28mm f/2

Nikon's SnapBridge does that very well. Mine is tethered to my phone via WiFi when I'm out. Straight into my photo stream.
