First of all, usually "and" denotes at least two separate things. Second mismanagement is a super broad term showing failure on all levels of the state. It’s definitely not monocausal but the effect many years of utter betrayal of

Absolutely. But the problems are on different time scales and spheres of influence. Iran can’t do anything on their own against climate change. But they can decide to fund water projects instead of bombs. It’s a bit like saying: I went to t

But the drought was not caused by climate change, but by mismanagement ie complete neglect of the problem.

I noticed that these long form articles are trending on X. Not sure why. I guess it’s a new feature that is being pushed so people piggyback on that.

I checked 2-3 trails and have to agree. Take for example the OODA loop. How are the connections made here of any use? Seems like the words are semantically related but the concept are not. And even if they are, so what? I am missing the so

Richard Rumelt has a nice article about this: > The strength of a chain depends on the strength of its weakest link. When activities have chain-link logic, the strength of the weakest, or least efficient, part limits the performance of

This is one way to look at it. The other way is to argue that LLMs democratize access to knowledge. Anyone has access to all ever written by humanity. Crazy impressive if you ask me.

I think there is a theory that we’re not seeing any aliens simply because life on Earth started so early.

This. In my experience you have to call out people and tell them politely that you expect them to be on time. Otherwise, people will simply come 10 minutes past if you start 5 minutes past.

No but your USD return gap should in theory be eaten away by inflation.

I get your point. Spain would fail miserably. But you’re not taken into account how many men Russia is losing to maintain that level of aggression. It’s compensating its small GDP with humans. Spain would never do that and thus fail.

Similarly it’s a choice to ignore all those KPIs that are confounded. Being pedantic about how we measure progress might create the impression that it’s not about the progress but instead about being right.

I think it’s not perfect but probably the best we have. People forgot or simply don’t realize how much worse life was just a couple of decades ago (in terms of nutrition, access to knowledge, clean water, material wealth).

The value I get from negative comments is usually higher. My usual journey: I visit the comment section and then look for the first top comment that criticizes the core thesis of the article.

I think OODA is fundamentally different to Auftragstaktik. Auftragstaktik describes a clear purpose / intent. Like: capture the bridge (but: we don’t care how you do it since we can’t foresee specific circumstances) OODA describes a
