They're 100% explained by that, not just partially. At all of the top-rated restaurants in every city I've cooked in, all the chefs are buddies. It's very common for there to be a tacit agreement to just not pay more than $X,

Wow, this is complete opposite of America. I have run several bars/restaurants and most of our money came from alcohol sales. Food was still profitable, but much tighter margins. A lot more labor goes into the food side of the business

I switched from VS Code to Vim and just forced myself to go cold turkey. Turned off the mouse and arrow keys to enforce using the home row as much as possible. It was a painful month. I started with a pretty IDE-like config (I think it was

As opposed to my state attempting to ban CRT from being taught in high school (a non-issue, since it isn’t)? I have lived in liberal parts of the country, for most of my life. They have a different set of problems, but I never once had my p

They discuss the importance of engagement, something CS50 gets right - so how does that have anything to do with short-form content? I think the beauty of things like CS50 is the engagement, but also the longer format of it. A lot of shit j

Seriously. Some people need to lay off the Fox and the right wing talk radio. They act like they’re being so oppressed because they have opinions people don’t agree with and they get called out for it. Like, how privileged has one’s life be

I’m not sure who would rely on cops in a situation like that, considering I’ve had remarkably similar things happen (or worse, like direct assault of a coworker) and the cops showed up maybe about half the time and usually hours and hours l

Basically every time I’ve needed police for something - a break-in, a violent person at my work, a neighbor stealing things from me with video evidence, a stolen car, on and on - I file a report and then never hear from them again. I can’t

Yes. Cost of living should have nothing to do with it. Do we pay people with kids more because their CoL is higher? Payment should be based 100% on work.

I think the way they do the model is the ideal. You want to use their servers? You pay your rent. You want to not use their servers? Then you just use the local app.

Do they? Or do MBAs prefer it? I definitely prefer buying something and actually owning it rather than essentially rent things for forever.

Ah good point. I forgot about states with income taxes. But I still think the “50% of my income” number is wrong - he either doesn’t understand how tax brackets work is being willfully misleading to make his argument look better.

You will get taxed 50% on the amount you make over X is what you mean, not that your total tax rate will be 50% - if that were actually the case. The top bracket is $400k for an individual and the Build Back Better or whatever it’s called a

That dosesn’t answer my questions though. You are against same sex marriage because they don’t form a reproductive unit. Infertile people don’t either. By your logic, they shouldn’t be able to get married either. Also, cousin marriages are
