I think it should be mentioned that the actual creators of Neopets are Adam Powell and Donna Williams, who apparently were unaware of this connection https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neopets

I also remember Internet Explorer allowed for web pages to talk directly to sql server via an ActiveX control. Tried it out once locally. Was both interesting and terrifying.

Count me in! I’ve been doing a lot of donkey-related reading lately and would certainly be interested in a donkey startup! What fascinated me was how important they were in the past, I never realized.

That seems to contradict my understanding of Chinese history and culture. Historically they seem to be strongly spiritual like any people, and government support for religions. I admit most of exposure is from literature and not much more.

The article is informative, even eye opening, but to be honest, I get wary of the iconoclastic affect that surrounds it. Truth is, I am attached to certain food traditions and would like to see them continued properly. I know culture evolve

Thank you. For me, I like making engines. It’s my time off, I can do what I want. I know someone else will make something leagues better with premade engines. But it’s not a race. And I make many of my own art assets too. They’re terrible.

On the subject of different kinds of happiness, I enjoyed reading Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics. He talked of eudaimonia, ie “good spirit”, “good condition of the personal daimon.” A sort of “thriving” or doing well. This is, in his langua

I can’t speak for professional development, but for hobby projects I personally had a lot of fun with WinAPI and GDI. SDL is good too. The churn of everything you mentioned was too much for me and it’s comforting playing with something that

Once I was feeling down, had a moment of weakness, I asked an earlier GPT model if I was a monster. It gave a rather convincing argument that I was, and stopped there. It felt bad, made me almost want to anthropomorphize it and hold a grudg

I feel woefully disconnected from the natural order in this day and age. There is so much variety and beauty out there that we remove for the sake of maximizing material utility. Even in bovines, I recently learned that there is a lot diver

As someone who is generally pro-Mars colonization (and has Zubrin’s book), I feel this. We don’t need to dichotomize this and I welcome advances towards humans going beyond where we have ever been. At the same time, I realize there is a lot

Perhaps the author is right that the media and public perception exaggerate the status of poetry as dead. I can’t say much about contemporary poetry, but, from the old books I read, I can’t help but feel something isn’t there today that use

Great timing for this article! I just used Flash CS5 this week to make my first animation. I’ll admit that I’m rough with it (made a few games with it many years ago, but that is all, stuck with Actionscript and static images). Some of the
