You can't decompile a program if you don't have a copy of said program. However, when the decompiled sources are uploaded to a public server, nobody needs the original program, to use it.

The reason why app developers will only reluctantly leave apps behind in favor of web apps, is because of the money. It's very easy to moneytize apps, it comes with the territory; but for web apps? People are used to "free" for web apps, an

I think is less surprising than the fact that Jupiter, and in fact all 4 big planets in our solar system, are actually just gas bubbles, and not actually not the rocky balls us ordinary people imagine as planets. That's right: they have no

Perhaps you didn't read all of it? Anyway, the person mentioned in this subthread did reply in a comment on the original post. ( http://rusty.ozlabs.org/?p=196#comment-721 )

I have been unemployed. And I can tell you: lack of time is not the problem, for most projects. What is lacking is the will to actually do it . I find it often easier to actually do something, when you already have a (nearly) full schedule

I don't like the wooden background. I think it's tacky, and it's precisely not the minimal approach you are promoting. Otherwise: good work. The selection of music it gets me when selecting an artist is rather impressive. I can see me us

You're right. Ideally, people should be rewarded for the actual results they get, not for the amount of work they appear to have put in it. A guy who would on the surface do very little yet gets excellent results, should be appreciated more

Well, according to this post, everyone who was technically knowledgeable about Bing has left. That implies that there will no longer be any relevant technical progress, any more.

So they dropped some rarely used functionality from PHP,... like serialization. Excuse me, "rarely used"?? Drupal strongly depends on serialization, to store data structures in the database (or, as they call it, "the cache"). You cannot eff

Non C/C++ user here... A lot of the problems are due to the assumption an integer is big enough to store a pointer. Just wondering: is there a way to make the compiler barf if such an assignment is done? Or for generating a runtime error if

Yes I do. For example, I have a little script to install Drupal modules, which is nothing more than downloading the tarball from the Drupal website, and untarring it in the proper directory. Likewise, I've got scripts to extract strings to

Yes, in my personal opinion, this is exactly what's going on: the next step in Nokia's new love affair with Windows Phone, and Qt the rejected mistress.
