I should have but I haven't had time to look into it and understand it yet, maybe a future post. There's a lot of stuff in the framework for parallel programming now, time to figure out which is still relevant.

Hi HN, I wrote this post because I wanted to point out how far C# has come from it's V1 and suggest you have another look if you haven't seen it since then. Sometimes its reputation isn't deserved, though sometimes it is. I'd really appreci

Took me a moment to realise the code is so weird because he's doing this in AutoCAD. My brain blocked out most of the site and went straight to the middle of the code.

Ah, thanks for the link. We don't have anything by that name but I did something equivalent that was specific to my university anyway.

It depends if the learning environment is already all Windows or not. I don't hold much hope for a high school being anything but. The other thing people are forgetting is that starting with VB.Net gives a nice predictable IDE which any stu

Fair comment and I kind of agree in spirit. Java hasn't really been living the dream lately though. At my high school we were taught to use Word and Excel because those were considered essential skills. We could have learnt Open Office or s

VB.Net is far closer to C# or Java than VB6. It's like a real grown up OO language now.

To be honest I think VB.Net is a decent choice for a high school level course. It's an approachable modern language backed by a huge framework with easy access to web, Windows and console programming. The IDE is free and relatively user fri

True but in theory the advantage with RackSpace is you can mix and match to balance the cost of your known requirements with the flexiblity for your unknown.
