You need to synchronize the spin rate of the drums on either end. If there's a difference of half a rotation over however many hundreds (thousands?) of rotations to transmit the photo, you'd end up with a completely distorted pict

Yes, I was looking for the bit where they addressed skew. You can even see it in the demo with the string, horizontal lines come out wavy after transfer to the other spool due to small differences in synchronization.

Normally how this works is that national laws dictate what an app can do when operating in the nation's territory, and it's then up to the app owner to decide whether they want to do business in that nation's territory or not

The VCL has a window managed by TApplication and it's the window which shows up in the task bar, but it's not the application's main window, which is generally a TForm descendant. When you minimize the main window (certainly

There was a fad for putting icons on dialog buttons. That was the most obvious Borland stylistic trait. Big green check mark on "OK" etc. That, and Delphi applications not having a minimize to tray animation due to the application

One object receiving different messages for painting its innards vs its chrome isn't particularly ugly. Most apps don't want to customize the chrome so they'll let the base class handle those messages, but the option is there

The link between revisions of a commit is not explicit. Actually immutable history is fine, as long as all history is captured. But git doesn't capture all history, instead making revisions to an earlier commit is done by "rewriti

Git doesn't do stacked commits well (you want to rebase all downstream local branches when you modify an earlier commit) and doesn't do commit revisions well (tracking changes to earlier commits). Git hews too closely to immutable
