Back then there was no internet and I knew no programmers. I remember seeing the yellow borland boxes at PC World and not really understanding what borland were. Afterwards I bought my first copy of vb secondhand (lots of manuals came wit

I don't expect MS to ever open source it at this stage. For many years the biggest source of angst for those of us marooned in VB6 was the fear that our applications would no longer run in the 'next' version of windows and re

Be nice if they could open source VB6 though, which hasn't had an update in 19 years. I'm still using it, which makes me happy and sad at the same time.

Trump is not doing anything he didn't say he'd do. I don't suppose there was ever a possibility of Jeff or all the people currently protesting, voting for Trump in the first place. So, aren't we just seeing the same peop

That depends on the fire service. The FDNY fight fires aggressively. I know of other fire services where the number 1 priority is firefighter heath and safety, ie above that of the potential victims of fires. They still like to run maratho

I have never liked FM radio. Far too much time wasted fiddling with telescopic aerials. I've always listened to AM broadcasts in preference. I don't listen to much radio at all any more except via podcasts.

I only read a bit of that article. Its tone from the get-go made it clear that it was biased. It's about time that this business was sorted out. Could the Swedes not try him in absentia. Have the allegations of the accusers been tested

I'm not American and have never been to Baltimore but if its characterisation in 'The Wire' is accurate (a corrupt, drug and crime ridden ghetto) then I am not surprised.

If coke came in something like the boxes of wine that used to be around one time, They were in effect a bag of wine with integrated tap inside a rigid cardboard box. As you drew wine through the tap, the bag collapsed.

So if you do take steps to prevent the bottle from uncrushing would it work then? Some sort of a simple vice, perhaps?

The squeezable upside down ketchup bottles have already solved this to my satisfaction. I need someone to solve the other great issue our times, how to preserve the fizz in a 2 litre bottle of coke after you consume part of it.

No I'd have bought many books that I have never gotten around to reading, sometimes they were bought on a whim. Other times I'd start a book and then start another and leave the first one.

Apart from novels it's pretty unusual for me to read all of a book. It's laziness a lot of the time I'd have to admit.

Libreoffice now use firebird under the hood I think. Firebird has a more complete support for sql than sqlite has. It also has the advantage of being able to be used both in a manner analogous to sqlite or as a full blown server database.
