Office 365 is free at the lowest level. For $2.50/student/month and $4.50/employee/month you get an SLA and the full Office suite for everybody. It's a real bargain compared to hosting and managing your own email solution, plus students get

Any non-profit school has to file a form 990 with the IRS. Debt isn't always included in the filing, but Moody's usually includes a pretty accurate debt estimate along with credit ratings. Here is Stanford's 990 from 2011: http://bondholde

I doubt anyone is trying to cover up making a poor choice of SIS vendor. It is astonishing how absolutely terrible higher ed software offerings are. That being said, the punishments are stupid. Cut off his app's access if charging money is

When/if Amazon is forced to start collecting sales tax I they'll start selling items locally. They already have a number of distribution centers and I bet people would happily drive out to them to get a product today.

Looking at our traffic, the "common case" is fairly low resolution displays: 1280x800 (25%) 1024x768 (16%) 1366x768 (14%) Luckily the new Gmail interface has three settings for display density.

Despite the huge ribbon the new layout actually has more vertical space due to the removal of the details pane. Once the ribbon is minimized there would be tons more real estate: http://blogs.msdn.com/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/communit

Nokia, RIM and Samsung seem pretty committed to their choice of OS. Rumors of Amazon tablets running Android keep surfacing but Amazon and Google are not exactly friends - Android is likely the least painful OS choice. They could buy WebOS

I purchased a home due to mortgage payments (including taxes and insurance) being equal or less than renting somewhere reasonable. This is in Louisville, KY which may be an outlier.

That new "dense" GMail theme has the bar's opacity set to ~40% and is much less jarring. I think the black bar wouldn't be an issue if the rest of the pages weren't so low contrast now.

The ERP where I work wraps RCS with a bunch of scripts. It's used for source control (of course) but also schema migrations, source generation, and a million other things I've checked files out that were last modified before I was born.

Is there some reason you can't pay for an out of warranty repair? I don't think products breaking outside the warranty period is Android specific - if you dunk an iPhone a year after purchase you'll be spending dollars on a repair.

Easiest way is to buy the device at Best Buy and then go to a physical T-Mobile store and setup an account. Go prepaid or request the deprecated "Even More Plus" plan - they still can set one up if you ask. Saves you about $10/month.
