Yeah because strings with a length prefix/field are just as secure! 200,"STR" We know where that got us... Programming 101, rules 1&2: 1 - never trust your inputs 2 - always check your invariants.

I think I'd have the same problem. If it's not got 88 keys or strings I'm probably not going to use it.

Sorry I agree it was rather incoherent - I was distracted half way through posting. I'm not suggesting they are sounder but I'm suggesting that async designs are simpler and simplicity rules when it comes to safety. sync designs

I think the rise of async/select based and privilege separated designs tend to suggest that threads don't work well for system programming.

Well it'd be good if the HTML5/H264 video player wasn't a piece of crap and it integrated with Android intents etc properly...

I don't think they want it. It's flock behaviour. Panic is infectious. One person panics, everyone else follows. It didn't take long for people to realise they could artificially create the panic and profit from it.

I got given some of this in the UK when I had the sniffles during the panic. I didn't actually go to the doctors for that problem. Ultimately I didn't take them and I suspect that most people didn't or they were disposed off

I market myself as a Microsoft stack technical architect in the UK. I'm equally as good with clang, python, Linux, postgres and redis as well. However the pay for that stuff is shit here and the utility of it isn't great. Most pay

The mg implementation that ships with OpenBSD has a fair few insults in it as well under the command "theo": http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/src/usr.bin/mg/theo.c?...

That will never happen. Then again the NHS here in the UK just rewrote a ton of stuff in RabbitMQ, Riak and Erlang from Oracle...

Well anything from embedded systems (even high level java) down to VHDL. What did they teach us in class that is of use today? Very little. We did all the mathematical requirements of programming (which for most are very little) at school.

I think you just described most corporations. Despite the PR otherwise, they're all rotten to the core like this. However in this specific case, if Mozilla issued a takedown to w3schools, would we be up in arms about it? Vendors are ge

For me this is not about whether it is too late or not, but what is the underlying motive? We can agree that these recent changes and releases are superficially good but what is the long term impact? Is this just another ploy to lock people

Sony really don't need bad press at the moment. They are circling the drain. Time to make a big thing about this and push them over the edge. Nothing I've had from them has been anything but pain for the last 15 years.

One of my teachers did this in the 1980s with eproms. You could get a reasonable 1bpp silhouette out of a 2716 and a couple of lenses out of a broken pair of binoculars. You had to program it first then use the sun to erase the picture onto
