I was paying about that to Sage and it didn't work properly and cost me a crap load of time so I've been there as well :)

But you can't change an attribute to a composite type in the future easily. As for maven POMs, I use Netbeans "add dependency" and that's about it so it's a non issue for me.

Its pretty simple. It took me a while to work it all out. You have one sheet per financial year with the following columns: Description - text description of transaction. Date - transaction date. Ref - invoice ID/cheque number etc. Amo

I do double entry. Accounts as columns, transactions as the first two columns (desc/id and amount) and one transaction per row. Transactions are added to the ledger with a macro and the ledger columns are locked so there is no possibil

That just sucks. Based on your usage of £ I assume you are in the UK (I am too). Education here is a broken pile of crap. Politics and ridiculous rules and structure galore. For example: I did electrical engineering and nearly got kicked of

Tried it but I can't shift the spreadsheet mentality. Perhaps I'm getting old and inflexible but literally everything has a brick wall somewhere apart from spreadsheets. Edit: I did my accounts on an HP48GX until about 2003, bough

I think this every day. I even bailed on a job to do a foundation degree in medicine but finances and circumstances killed that dead. However its probably better if someone takes a pile of money from society through a business and dedicates

Linode and if you need stuff with a UK company, bigv are a much better deal. Auto-scale - this needs to understand the application layer so you'd probably be better of with PaaS.

Perhaps I have an incredible tolerance for it but I can work white happily with three children making a lot of noise, one of which is a mini tyrannosaurus.

So you do you serialise and describe a ring buffer object in JSON? How do you provide a decimal type or a complex number? How do you validate this? How do you describe this object to a foreign system? How do you query the object? How do you

So we're ending up with JSON with schema and query support. In a couple of years: XML is the new best thing (as people finally realise that they've needed it all along).

Great post and I understand now - thanks for taking the time to explain it. I'd love to do it TX side with a couple of op-amps though :)

Firmware?! Last one of these I built had a simple multivibrator and a 4017 plugged into the RF front end which was pretty simple as well - just a crystal osc, mixer and antenna tuning and that was it. That was good for a 6 chan TX at least

Everyone needs MSI eventually. It's the only thing that works properly with SCCM / MOM and you WILL end up with some corporate deployment that requests an MSI. As for WiX and MSI, it throws out bundles as well (.exe containing MSI

They all suck from experience in vastly different ways. I'd do one of the following: 1. Use webfaction's shared email service at http://webfaction.com and stick to IMAP. This is an old fashioned shared hosting system.

A couple of days spent trying to use WiX to build something that bootstraps .Net, VSTO and works on all windows platforms will make Java packaging look like bliss. To be honest if you respect the deployment conventions in java (i.e. think a

Not sure why you got down voted for that. I did this not when stuff was stolen but when expensive stuff packed in. I now tend to use budget devices (Moto G and old thinkpad). If you can't afford to replace it, you probably shouldn'
