I too read the title and thought it would be about the show. It's not, unfortunately.

Exactly! I've been self hosting for about two years now, on a NAS with Cloudflare in front of it. I need the NAS anyway, and Cloudflare is free, so the marginal cost is zero. (And even if the CDN weren't free it probably wouldn&#x

Yes, I do. I think the world would be a better place if there were no Microsoft, Adobe or Oracle. We would still have OSes and databases, we would be fine.

There's some similarity between nationality and copyright: arcane, obscure, complex and mean rules that only benefit incumbents and punish everyone else. I hope we will eventually get rid of both.

Jellyfin is a media server app that gets installed on a great variety of platforms and while it would certainly be possible to add a postgres server to the install, the choice of sqlite is more than justified here IMHO.

I think I'm a 3? I don't see a real apple, more like the concept of an apple, but the harder I try, the more characteristics I can conjure -- although it would be a stretch to say I "see" them.

I'm in the exact same boat. I think I have aphantasia, because when I close my eyes all I see is black, and it is easier to conjure up images with eyes open, and I absolutely would never, ever, confuse what I "see" in my mind

One approach is to produce read-only data in BI tools: users are free to export anything they want and make their own spreadsheets, but those are for their own use only. Reference data is produced every day by a central, controlled process

Yes, but it's still amazing coming from Amazon. Everyone hates Amazon now but it's hard to argue they're not incredibly successful; how did they get where they are if they're staffed with Dilbert's boss types?

Most of the books I read are from authors long dead (current one: Risk, Uncertainty, and Profit, by Frank H. Knight, highly recommended). They don't need the money.

I visited Manhattan in 1990 and took photos on top of the towers, and also from the Staten Island boat shuttle. I thought then and still think now that those towers looked magnificent. They should have been rebuilt identically.
