Consider Phlebas was one of the few books I’ve given up on. Everything was just so damn corny. I had been lookig forward to it for a while so it was very disappointing. Thanks for the other recommendations. My only gripe with The Three Body

Sure, but multiplication tables are fundamental and are useful lifelong. Coins are still a very common feature of life and also useful for teaching addition, also very useful for life. I appreciate we have to move with the times (I’m not pu

There seems to be an idea, which I find deeply odd, that kids don’t need to be taught something once an alternative appears: arithmetic —> calculators coins -> contactless cursive -> typing I just find it bizarre how quickly people

If I may hijack the Clojure reference, how does Clojure’s core/logic compare to Prolog? Do they broadly fit in the same problem space?

They don’t write “this nuclear power station powers X homes, apart from the 20% of the time when it’s tripped off”, so at least they’re consistent.

I always wonder how people evolve from fiddling with package configurations to using emacs at this level. My stunbling block is not so much knowing Elisp (I’m sure I can stumble through that) but just knowing the internal architecture and h

Thank you for putting this together. I am reading it with interest. I spotted one small typo and thought you would like to know: “like transferring information form your software into an email or an SMS on the cellphone network.”
