Thanks for this. I’ve been interested in permaculture since coming across it at festivals but I’ve been put off how everyone seems to be selling courses. This is the first free one I’ve found. It feels a bit like minimalism where everyone t

After meditating for a few months this I have started to notice that the increased mental awareness can make it harder to sleep. I’m more aware of myself gradually falling asleep and sometimes that sudden awareness of ‘oh, I’m falling aslee

It’s striking how unreadable the V8 output is. Is that due to V8 itself or just this particular use of it?

The link between doing useful work and being paid for it is broken in these cases, just noone openly admits it. So why not make it explicit and stop requiring people to pretend to work to get paid?

Well, depends on how your taxes are raised. I live in the UK and it's incredibly centralised so 'everyone' is the nation.

It's also based on the (mis?)conception that the taxes you pay are for your own children's education, rather than being for everyone's.

None at all. What's great about SICP is that it starts from pretty much first principles and builds everything gradually on top of them. Things like managing state etc are presented as a very natural progression.

The waste of human potential is staggering. The purpose of the economy should be to enable making full use of it. Instead we focus on profit.

Out of interest, why did no-one notice you were only working two hours a day? Presumably you did the work you were expected to do in that time, but did you not have a manager or co-worker noticing you sitting in the corner reading?

I think the idea of selling to agencies etc is worth exploring (though take my experience for what it's worth). The main thing I noticed when scrolling through the home page is that fifteen pounds a month seems like quite a lot. I was

The South West seems to be full of interesting sites. Last time I was in Cornwall we went for a walk to visit a stone circle. It’s fascinating to think that people like us at one point thought it important enough to create these circles, bu

Even with Quantum I still find Firefox is almost unusably slow on some pages. It also causes very spikey resource usage. I’d like to use it exclusively but sometimes when I want to cool down my laptop I just switch to Chrome. This is on a R

I’d be really interested to hear about what MZ is like from people who’ve worked closely with him. All of his public pronouncements seem to lack reflection imo (eg that letter to his child), but perhaps he’s limited by what he can say.

The nail-painting one can be used to be a bit ‘sassy’, so it’s like saying “don’t worry, I know other ways to find myself a bed for the night ;-)” but in a more nuanced way that I at least find funnier. It’s probably not a universal meaning

Because people in the EU read their articles and view their adverts, which is presumably how they make a lot of their cash. What are they doing with the data of an unregistered visitor that means they aren't GDPR-compliant?
