I'm not sure I could do something like that without telling my wife. Surely they could have given her some warning and kept her out of the public eye until the person ordering the assassin had been caught in the sting.

The difficulty is that your language ability needs to be at such a high level that you'd lose more nuance from a translation than you would from lack of vocabulary etc when reading the original. In my opinion it's worth it for poe

Wow, maybe not that different then when you account for inflation (though I might be way off). Who were these kids then who had rolls of quarters to throw into machines?

This is slightly off topic, but are modern arcade games more extortionate than they used to be? If you play e.g. Mario Kart you have to keep putting in coins after each race. Maybe if you come first it lets you continue but it seems a total

If you offer a set of checkboxes like that won't most people just check all of them? While considering your inner motivation is great in general, it seems pointless in a job application where you can't just say that you're ho

Should there be some catastrophic collapse in society, I would far prefer that the government requisitioned food and rationed it out. While it’s definitely open to abuse, I think it would do a better job in the short term of keeping people

I’m intrigued - how does that play out in your head? There’s a disaster causing social collapse but a free market for food remains. Demand outstrips supply so it becomes too expensive for many to buy. What do people do before they can go ba

I partly agree with you but a less charitable interpretation is that we had a bipolar hegemony that prevented full-scale wars. Many regions experienced significant violence, often caused or abetted by Western powers that turned out to be le

Isn’t choice also a fundamental part of a free market? I can choose to buy a certain product and decide not to buy if the market prices are above what I’m willing to spend. How does that apply to medical procedures?
