We have HQ in Italy but most of our business comes through our US presence, so yes we report to the IRS...AND to the Italian taxman. We're a micro-multinational! :)

Ciao crocowhile, we have not regretted moving back to Italy at all so far. Our servers are in the US, taxes are split in both places. HTH!

Hi there. Typical workday is wake up at 7, get my kid ready and take him to school, than back to the office (home) at around 9:30. Work until 6:00pm, then family time again, then put the kid to bed at around 9:30, then work again until 12:0

Good question, let me try to answer. I'm doing this out of memory so some might be wrong: - DropBox is $99 a year for 50Gig - we get Confluence hosted for free because we're a successful Atlassian plugin developer - I forget how much Last.f

Hi there Peldi here from Balsamiq. You know, you're totally right. I wasn't happy about how it came out either. Using it was a lazy move. Let me go back and expand it.

Hi nopassrecover, I have no intention of building in export funcionality into Mockups as of right now. There are too many possible languages and framework for a small company like mine to try and keep track of, so I'd much rather have other

Hi staunch, although Valerie's job title accurately describes what she's going to be doing, it's also meant as a bit of an inside joke since she won't be managing anyone. And while she's not getting any equity nor a big salary yet, I hope t

Hi vaskel, thanks for the idea. I consider launch date (6/19) to be the yearly milestone, so we're not quite there yet. I already have something planned for that day, but I probably will do a yearly summary at the end of 2009, just like I d

Actually, I think the fun is just starting! We still don't have offices, and our titles are made up and meant to be fun. But in a sense I do hope that we transition to a more "standard" small business, that was the goal from the beginning.

Hi gwc, Peldi here. You go it exactly right, Balsamiq is not a 'startup' in the pg sense, but rather a lifestyle business...I hope to be working on/for Balsamiq Studios for as long as possible, and to continue to have a great time doing it.

Hi hbien, Peldi from Balsamiq here. We use GetSatisfaction, a FAQ on our site and an extensive help page, but I'd have to say that our secret weapon is Typinator, check it out: http://www.macility.com/products/typinator/ It's a great time

Hi ojbyrne, just to make sure: I wasn't suggesting that I wanted to do any marketing on FF (I don't do it on Twitter any more either, that's the main point of my post) - rather I was saying that Twitter doesn't seem well suited for long con

Hi tectonic, I am well aware that the barriers to cloning Mockups are really low (and I've known this from the start). Luckily, features are only part of the package, and in the long run, everyone has the same features more or less. That's

Hi Schwa23, the design of balsamiq.com is mine - I have the Illustrator files to prove it :) - but I did design it at the height of my 37Signals "fanboy" phase, so I'm not surprised of the resemblance. I am not 100% happy with the site and

Hi subbu, here's how you can do templates/master pages today in Mockups: http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mockups/help#templates - it's a bit of a hack, but it keeps the app really simple...and we're all hackers here anyways right? :)

I'm not sure what you're referring to. The different "try it now" links on balsamiq.com should all open http://www.balsamiq.com/demos/mockups/Mockups.html - if you found anything different then yes, it's certainly a bug.
