I found that I like the politics more than the sci-fi part of it. I believe the politics made the series that good. Just like in Game of Thrones, where politics is more important than the fantastic creatures or magic.

I got so tired of testing all the flashlight apps. Some had ads, other required too many permissions. In the end I wrote my own, in a couple of hours. It's ad free, and doesn't require anything: https://play.google.com&

The problem I have with "show don't tell" is that sometimes you have a somewhat irrelevant fact, which is not important to the whole story or character development, but you need to state it to explain why the character took s

AFAIK they are changing the way 3rd party applications are integrated with FB, using a special set of user IDs for each app, and other privacy related changes which will limit the amount of user information apps get. It's a completely

I can confirm this, at least for games. For the last game I made, I had to have all assets in 4 sizes, which makes it look nice in all resolutions ranging from 800x450 to Nexus10 2560x1600. I maintain the aspect ratio and have background th

I found CodeIgniter to be really useful for a self-taught, spaghetti-style PHP programmer. It is the only framework that most such programmers can grasp by themselves using tutorials and docs available online. Any other framework, and they

To be honest, if you are indie developer and you don't have very aggressive IAP like Clash of Clans or Throne Rush, there is no money from people that buy apps. I've seen cool indie games like TripleTown having trouble monetizing.

I agree. Learn CodeIgniter first because it is easy. Once you create a couple of projects with CI, switch to Laravel (or Yii framework). CI is really good to get a grasp on MVC way of thinking, and learning Laravel later will make you appre

Some people are using devices that are hard to upgrade and are stuck with older versions. According to Google Play stats, I have about 11% of players using Android 2.3 for my game. I use 2.3.3 as the lowest supported version, since most imp

As with all other stuff: it depends. Using it for logins is really questionable. But if you are, for example, building a game for Facebook, it gives you many advantages, so occasional downtime is not really the biggest issue. Let's che

I tried MapsWithMe, but those are only maps, no navigation. If you use Android, check out OsmAnd. It uses the same OSM maps, has navigation (with voice pack too) and it's free for up to 8 countries IIRC. I have been using it for about

Looks like a good way for Apple to lock the developers to their platform. In past glory days people used to make games for iOS first and consider porting to Android much later. These days developers think cross-platform from the start, esp.

They are probably counting each regional Google server as a separate "site" because it has a different hostname (different tld). There are easily 100 of those, esp. if YouTube counts as well.
