The best ones I have used are LucidSpec ( http://elegancetech.com ) and AxureRP-Pro ( http://www.axure.com ), but Balsamiq wins for basic conceptions simply because it is web-based and it is easy to collaborate with others across the globe

These tools are really only as good as the information they are provided or access, and without looking at failure rates/reasons in the model do seem fundamentally flawed to me. As mentioned by others, the results provided do look very opti

If you work hard, you should be rewarded (in a way that is meaningful to you). It is that simple. However, practices like this are rife throughout industry.

Appreciating how busy you are, what you do (thank you), how HN is built, the fact HN is not a business par se, and that one would rather not have a feature than something poorly implemented, it nonetheless would still be helpful to many e

I am still wondering why others like TechCrunch et al have not at least tried something like a quantitative prediction tool before. Perhaps it was too much conflict of interest to their core reporting/news business model, or too much work

I'm sure people like songkick are already working on it. However, as always, building it and getting it to take off are different challenges.

An analytics engine / machine learning tool has to begin somewhere. Why not start on a small(er) data set you are passionate about (and that has immediate benefit to your business model and user base), that you can record and measure more e

Generally, if you make things people want and value, monetisation often occurs naturally, and the rewards derived from being excellent on the open market often out weights that of being excellent within a company environment.

Being 25-30 I have yet to see this trend :( and don’t see many of the people I know with partners more than ±4yrs their age. Moving may solve the problems related to geography, but perhaps not those of culture and lifestyle which often form

I can understand the need for security, but policies such as this make people like me less likely to visit the U.S. unless I had to (being ethnic type and Muslim already makes it hard enough).

Powernapping achieves much of the same (atleast for me). So if for some reason you are unable to take sleep, at least be sure to try and fit in a ~20min powernap. The benefits can be surprising.

To me, this is stating the obvious. The best way to learn is by doing, and the best way to get better is to (happily) make mistakes and learn. Nobody/nothing is perfect, and often (perceived/contextual) perfection is derived from iteration.
