Can you describe the way you develop software now that you don‘t do agile any more? I‘m really interested!

It does not seem to be uncommon to recommend staying away from the non-LTS releases. It is probably not only up to you whether or not your software supports the next JDK release; all your tooling and libraries need to do so as well. See ht

Slightly off topic: Does anyone here have CS6 running on the macOS >= Sierra? I was only able to find information that this is not possible because the launcher requires Java and Apple removed the JRE from macOS.

Did you find any library that implements this? I mean, it should not be hard to implement, just slap together some templating language like thymeleaf or velocity and shell it to the headless browser. But still, it would be nice to have all

It is called Redbook Audio, because that is what the standard for audio cds is called. Technically, this would have to be called Orangebook because it mixes Redbook and Yellowbook (the standard for data on cds). See https://en.m.

The recommended way are app passwords. You basically generate a password for each app that needs to access your mail account. You can easily revoke access for a single app in case something goes wrong. Also, nobody gets the chance to read y

What I find odd about this project is that it uses maven to build the client (or at least a maven plugin that in turn executes grunt/gulp/whatever). Does anyone have experience with that? Is it any good?

This does not seem to contain information about HiDPI - does anyone know good statistics about how many people use HiDPI screens (on desktop)?

You could just put the Algorithm or the version into the configuration. That would at least allow a gradual migration.

But you can not select text using that method, can you?

Agreed. A major red flag is the omission of generics usage on their methods. Just using List or Collection without type parameters is just dangerous and very bad advice for a novice programmer seeking enlightenment for Java 8 programming.

Yeah, I like that too. Makes you think twice about re-implementing widgets because of the insane amount of functionality that is tied even to the simplest widgets and still invisible. Think of how hard it would be to re-implement a dropdown

Exactly, this is the important lesson here: Every single little feature that you introduce will be used by someone and you either have to support it forever (the classic Microsoft-strategy) or take it out and risk the anger of a part of you

The same holds for all "Metro" apps, apparently. The "top-left-menu" is neither present in calculator, nor the new settings app (or weather, mail, calendar ...).

Even the menu is still there if you click on the window icon in the upper left corner of the window (or the space where it would have been). Interesting tidbit: There is even a context menu on scroll bars - no idea who would use this, but i

Beside the nostalgic value, this hidden button has a very practical use when you use two monitors. I tend to have a window full-screened on each monitor. To close the window on the right monitor, I just mash my mouse pointer to the upper ri

Another nitpick: on iOS Safari, that pizza-poo-domain name actually does show up in the address bar. So there has to be another mechanism that prevents the Amazon-with-Cyrillic-"a"-trick which I guess involves normalization.

About turning off iCloud backup: You say that messages are being stored unencrypted. That may be true as we do not know what happens on Apple servers. But this is about securing the phone for traveling i.e. you would have to worry about the

Windows 7 actually has that ability, too! I even think that change came with the new graphics driver model (WDDM) in vista. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Display_Driver_Model...

Yes I noticed that too. It was using a significant portion of my monthly mobile data limit (roughly 60mb of 500) that I actually removed the "mobile data" permission. Which is highly inconvenient.

Yeah, I know that one. It's discontinued, though - I'm actually looking for a replacement for this exact library. Been thinking about writing my own implementation but was hoping for an alternative when I saw this post.

Hey, great work! I'm interested in how you did that flip book effect and unfortunately the JavaScript code looks minified and is very hard to read. Did you use a library or did you hand-write it yourself?

I implemented RPC over AMQP for the Spring AMQP project, for all those who are interested in using this kind of thing in a JVM environment. The documentation describes how it works here: http://docs.spring.io/spring-amqp
