Great article by one of my favorite authors. A couple of points - it's dangerous to have executives, regulators, and legislators dealing with financial instruments that are very difficult to understand. It's also dangerous to build models o

Funny, I don't recall it being called "funemployment" when Bush was president. I seem to recall more articles like this one about the "shadow workforce". http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3495/is_8_49/ai_n6171...

The space shuttle has been a huge waste of money. AFAIK, not a single significant scientific discovery. Robots/Computers make by far the best astronauts.

I think that it is more of a fractal pattern. For instance, graphics is supposed to be the view layer, but the implementation is full of mathematical equations, which are controller type objects. Ivar Jacobsen says all objects tend to fall

Reading his other posts, he seems to think that the verbose and convoluted discourse he prefers is somehow at a higher level. IMO, there is no reason for philosophy to be complex and difficult to understand. If you want to solve extremely c

There is no way to build anything close to an accurate model of the climate. It has far too many independent variables. What really makes it ridiculous is that the are always claiming to use the latest "super" computers when every (good) CS
