Face trackers are pretty robust these days - the demo that comes with OpenCV is a great example, it just works without any configuration.

Old school technique. He should have just used SIFT keypoints or something. Much faster and more accurate. Still, cool demo.

Static scenes, no apparent occlusion handling, poor object localization. If I had to guess I'd say all they have going on in the demo is straightforward background-subtraction with blob tracking. Maybe they're working on something more inte

The problem is that when you're forced to sell your product for $0.99 (actually $0.69) none of the traditional marketing methods are cost effective. So the only way to make money is either getting mainstream press coverage, or having Apple

One of the things I looked for were candidates that previously would not have made the cut because of a crappy resume - and there were quite a few of those. I didn't do any kind of controlled study - so this is definitely anecdotal evidence

Recently we've started giving automatic IQ tests to everyone that applies to us - then we take the top 20-30% and look at their resumes to get 10-15 candidates for the in person interview. So far it's worked remarkably well - precisely in d

Python has a numpy and matplotlib, as well as really easy binding with boost (which gives you ublas etc.) This allows you to write really nice optimized numerical algorithms that plug right in. That's what sold me for Django over Rails.

My advice would just be to take a few stats courses. Make sure you're comfortable with your linear algebra inside out. Learn as many numerical methods as possible etc. etc. In my mind, neural networks should only be used when you're trying

To all the naysayers: remember that holding cash is holding a depreciating asset. That 2k is not going to be worth 2k in a year's time. So really by not investing you're taking a guaranteed loss of 3%-15% a year (depending on how pessimisti
