I honestly don't see Twitter lasting much longer. They'll ban and woke mob their way to halving their user base. Once the mob finally has their safe space, investors will let them know how much that's worth.

Fair point if you read it literally and assume each thread is a problem. But I assume, as it's a variation of the regex joke, 'using threads' is seen as a singular thing. Perhaps it should say 'threading?'

Interesting, thanks. When I made that statement I thought to myself the only other reason that makes sense would be if pigmentation was somehow expensive, which is what the article concludes if I understand correctly - "a pigmented ski

While a valid use case, it feels like overkill. There are much less expensive and more stable ways to accomplish this.

Not a scientist...but strongly feel humans would not have diverged into different skin colors if UV deficiency weren't a fairly large issue.

That's a little unfair. CNC are a type of machine that do something every machine shop would need to do. Manufacturing and assembly typically require very specific automation that would be useless to anything else...hence why it only

My current city has about 1 million people in the metro area. They are only doing doses at one indoor building, and to date done 4,000 shots. It's honestly appalling.

This doesn't make sense to me as it has the opposite effect. If I want to buy an item, I'm pretty dead set on buying it. Now it's just to figure out which company's to buy. If I can't rely on reviews and get a te

Not sure where all the shanty love on HN has come from, but I'm loving it. Obligated to share my favorite, a youtube classic of sorts by this point: https://youtu.be/49FWp7WLYKw

Sure, but there are a lot of distros out there that do these things for you. Solus Gnome is probably my favorite out of the box experience. It's basically pre-configured exactly how I tune Gnome myself.

Vanilla Gnome is terrible. You must embrace extensions. At first I loathed the idea, but it's just become part of life. One for a dock, one for weather, one for tray icons, and if you prefer, one for top menu that gives you your mor

I think a minimal reproduction of each common complexity would be a way more helpful addition. Someone with little math background is going to have no idea what log even means, much less what causes it.

Absolutely not. I'm not sure why programming is the one field people make a joke of. It doesn't happen in any other field that I'm aware of. Hear me out. Do you ever see ads for 'become a doctor in 6 weeks, land a job

Another Linux distro. Used to work on Antergos, plan on making something similar. Have a bootable ISO, just need to do the little pesky things like default user settings.

Of all the shitty things 2020 will be known for, this stupid calling everyone Karen/Ken is the absolute dumbest. Please, for the sake of our species, stop.

Agree with everything except the oil. I use Avocado a lot for cooking but not on a brand new pan. I've certainly tried to season with it specifically when I was new, but find it flaky and cumbersome. I find fatty meats(bacon, sausage

Thank you. This is what's missing in the whole argument. They can already go back to standard...what Florida wants is the currently non-existent option to go full time DST. Most states want full time DST.

I love hacks for DNS, but this one feels a little bit of a stretch. The absolute lack of security is probably the biggest one. Now one can troll DNS for a user who has access to a resource.

Yes, that. I can wake up at 8, accidentally fall asleep, and feel like hours or days have passed and panic, but it's just 8:15. Dreams are so mysterious it's weird, in our age of science.

Data point, unsure if helpful. I sleep plenty but wake up at least once per night. My most vivid dreams always occur in my last sleep, usually after 6am. I can literally live a lifetime in my dreams between 6 and 9am. I haven't qui

This is weird to me because it seems much easier for a mfg company(read, all other car makers) to throw cash and catch up in tech, than it is for a tech company(tesla) to nail manufacturing. AutoPilot aside, for now.

Minor correction...that's ccTLD, which .io is. And you're right about the rest. But gTLDs are basically every other TLD that's not a country code.
