This is fantastic. I consider iOS far superior in so many ways over Android. Except that it is locked down so much. If iOS becomes more open, there will be nearly no reason to get an Android.

Of course. But they should make their money in other ways. A note taking app that I can't sync across multiple devices is useless. And you can't try the full version with sync to see if it would work. All I'm saying is they&#

Agreed. It's frustrating because both Obsidian and Logseq have deliberately removed a crucial feature. So people either have to pay a lot, or do janky workarounds to do their own sync. Why have so many people waste their time with own

Yea, sure, but that's like saying "company X stopped selling poison, it's Shop Y's fault that they're still selling it". Nope. This is still Microsoft's fault while non-auth servers update.

I have a few unifi things at home, and for the most part, they've been good, and work well together. But this sort of stuff is very concerning, and forcing the cloud account on everyone is really stupid. But what are the alternatives.

To play devil's advocate, the flaw in your logic is assuming that because someone passed the interview at a FAANG, they must be good. No interview process is perfect. Companies, no matter how 'high the entry barrier' make mis

this isn't good for anyone but Roundcube investors. Roundcube is a well-liked product. Nextcloud is a PHP app with all kinds of security holes.

They're using Android? I think they'd be much better off using something like Automotive Grade Linux. Google's car ambitions have been pretty disastrous, including the newer Volvos. Reviews of the Volvo Android Automotive inf

yea, I don't get how people complain about Valve. Google, Apple, Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft all take roughly the same. The difference is people actually like using Steam. They actually want to be locked in. I'd rather by a game on

They expect developers to get ready? They're thinking about this wrong. They need to make it zero work, followed by optional optimizations, like Apple did with their M1. Remember when Google told everyone to test their Android apps on

that was incredible embarrassing. I remember it was the end of December, and they said "it won't be in the January update. Just wait until February" I cannot imagine Apple doing that.

I agree. I find upgrading less frequently makes the upgrade so much more significant. Upgrading yearly would leave you complaining and wondering what's new. I know people who lease a new car every 3 years. And often, if there's no

Probably because they're spending hundreds of millions on exclusivity deals to keep games off Steam.

What's the pricing model here? the AppStore lists a yearly subscription as $10, but then an additional IAP to import songs of $5? It's confusing, and I never install apps when the pricing is unclear. Also, any plans for lifetime,

Is there a benefit to using Infuse over NFS vs Infuse connecting to Plex? Wouldn't you lose Plex's ability to customize everything (naming, album art, collections, watchlist), not to mention syncing with other non Apple devices in

VP of Engineering isn't some standard role you can compare across companies. My current company, Directors often have orgs of up to 500, and VPs usually have 1k+, sometimes 3-5k. To pretend that a VP at a startup, with an org of 50 is

my understanding is that syncthing doesn't work properly on iOS, because Apple doesn't allow background processes. So you have to manually sync all the time. I'd imagine you'd get into some merge conflicts if you forget

Speaking for myself, I have a home server. I bought it almost 9 years ago, and the server (haswell-grade xeon) is still perfectly ok for home-server stuff, like a NAS and plex. When I set up the server, I picked CentOS 7 because I wanted a
