>>"but we do not know _your application_ at all." You're missing the point. A PaaS, or serverless service doesn't need to know your application. That's the whole point. They're just API calls, and they ne

that's not why Apply joined AV1. They joined AV1 because they were forced to. Netflix, Google, Amazon are all on the AV1 bandwagon. If Youtube, Netflix and Prime Video all use AV1 for future higher quality streams, Apple cannot avoid s

The content providers want Youtube TV to fail, and are doing it with forced bundling that increases the price. There's no other explanation. In hindsight, it was stupid for Google to get into a business where they cannot control pricin

If that's the case, Apple is deliberately hindering their intel version so that the future ARM version destroys it in benchmarks. They'll win anyway. But comparing a 2021-ish Apple ARM laptop against intel's early 2019 chip i

It can be frustrating, but it's almost always worth it in a serious production environment. I have my own anecdote: I have serveral home servers running CentOS 7 (set up nearly 6 years ago). I update all the time and I've had zero

I just got a 16" MBP... Still, the waiting game sucks too. Apple said their first Arm mac will come out at the end of the year, but that could well be a very low end Mac mini, or Macbook Air. It's unknown when the pro line will co

The Model S came out in 2012. Surely it's time for a full redesign, or at least a refresh with their existing battery tech etc..

I feel this is a google/apple problem. They need to celebrate and advertise premium games more. Instead, we're stuck in a world where most games are fremium with tons of ads or IAPs, or subscriptions..... It sucks to be a gamer. I
