Ah, ok. Seriously, though, that's a damn fine piece of writing. Put into words something I've never been able to.

Jesus, man. You shouldn't sell yourself short with a title like that; makes it sound like some random MySpace post when it's one of the best personal blog posts I've read. I'm 18, and this pretty much describes the last four months of my li

Exactly. With Dropbox, you're making storage the customer's problem and not yours. You could argue this is bad for the customer, but you end up with a web app with next-to-no server overhead: just serve your static files and everything else

This would be incredible. Web apps that are 100% HTML5/Javascript/LocalStorage could then use Dropbox to store/retrieve data in the cloud.

A good official tutorial would be fantastic, one that walked through something with a little more complexity than the basic to-dos demo. It's not that the official docs are particularly hard-to-read, it's just that it's very much a referenc

I've been trying to get into using Backbone for a while, but I've been frustrated by the lack of resources - the official docs are essentially just a lengthy reference and an extremely basic Todos demo, neither or which has been all that he

While I love Instapaper for bringing me back to reading long-form articles, I personally moved to Readability a while back. It's $5 (minimum)/month, but it has a lot more polish, and I actually prefer the mobile app to Instapaper's iOS ones

Honestly, I switched because I liked the interface and the mobile web app more than I liked Instapaper's site and app. Readability's "readable view" is soooo much nicer than Instapaper's. Supporting authors is a nice bonus, though.

The big draw for me with the Kindle that doesn't seem to be available on its competitors is wireless document delivery - I used this with Instapaper, and now with Readability. Thanks to it, I never need to worry about plugging my Kindle int

This is kind of disappointing. I broke the screen on my Kindle 3 the other day, but wasn't too worried because I was planning on getting either this Kindle or the Touch anyways. I was thinking of buying the $79 Kindle today, since I didn't

Exactly! And you know, the newer Android phones I've used are far smoother than they used to be, but you still don't see that in the ads. I think a big deal about the iPhone ads that just show someone using it is that it creates this image

This is a great example of what's wrong with Android marketing. Most consumers are not interested in checklists, comparisons, "anything you can do I can do better!" Consumers are interested in apps. Services. Angry Birds. iTunes. Status. St

This isn't true with big publishers - Square Enix's $10-14 games are consistently in the "Top Grossing" list. For smaller devs who can't market well, you're right.

Last I remember, they required the parent's permission in the form of a fax or some other annoying format, so many sites just didn't bother accepting permission and banned under-13 users. This was 4-5 years ago, though. I pretty much got us

As far as I can tell, viewing the site in Chrome 12, the only Flash used is in the music player (which makes sense, since Firefox and a few other browsers don't have HTML5 audio MP3 support). The rest is all HTML5.

This is pretty silly. The site's clearly designed with further extendability in mind; this just means that when the author does want to make it into a full site he'll have to convert it back into JavaScript.
