I find it interesting how we have come full circle on static typing. When I was in University 2009-2013... and years leading up to it, dynamic typing was becoming the hot thing after years of Java/C/C++ dominance. Statically typed

The term "Systems Programming" is pretty wide and encompasses everything from databases and distributed systems which can and are written in Java (eg Cassandra, Zookeeper, Kafka) to really low level embedded devices with only a fe

People are writing production level databases, distributed systems in Go... ofcourse it's a systems language unless your definition of a systems language is something super narrow.

Not only that, the rust community also seems to have some weird complex where not only they evangelize their own language (which is fine) but also feel the need to bully and bash on other languages (usually targeting mainly C/Go but oc

It was always clear to me as someone who has seen his share of Elon tweets. He was literally just trolling with his tweets and had no intention of ever joining the board as he doesn't have the time or the passion for that job.

Unit tests are never a tool to prove stuff to managers/customers/stakeholders. They are a tool to prove to yourself and your teammates that your code works and have some reasonable amount of confidence that it will continue to wor

Does your team work on a codebase that uses a dynamically typed language? If so then the 100% coverage requirement is perfectly reasonable and arguably the only sane way to develop anything more than a tiny project. If a statically typed la

The biggest misunderstanding about TDD is that you need to do TDD to be good engineer and write good code as promoted by some TDD evangelists. Writing tests is important, writing good tests is important... what is not important is the order

Avoid channels except for straight forward, producer-consumer workflows. Use mutexes and other traditional concurrency primitives for other stuff. Channels are a huge shotgun with caveats.

This is ridiculous. Why don't they make the DST permanent? And if people want to have more light in the MORNING , then they just WAKE UP LATER . Surely that is easier than permanent REGULAR time.
