This page was a very pleasant surprise find when they introduced dev.twitter.com at Chirp in April. I don't like that most Twitter clients reinvent the wheel in terms of UI. A little consistency and familiarity doesn't hurt.

I've done 2 hackathons with a large group over at UC Berkeley (sponsored by the CS Undergraduate Association and Startup @ Berkeley) but both times worked alone. I also did the overnight hackathon at Chirp, the Twitter Developer conference,

Feedback for Startups is intriguing because the pain is definitely there but this approaches it from the wrong perspective. How can we help startups get feedback from potential users in their target market, not just those seeking incentives

It's most likely a set of users who expected something and did not have a good first user experience with your product. Maybe their expectation wasn't matched, they were confused, or they were just browsing. But that's all conjecture, you n

I respect your sympathy for and willingness to read what those you follow deem interesting. But I think the author of the blog post is speaking of a problem that emerges at a larger scale when you follow more & more people. Your stream

I don't think that's a solution because it assumes everyone would agree that X is for personal posts, Y for professonal, etc. I don't think that kind of agreement will ever come about. I believe in filters but all the ones currently out the

If I make it out of private beta, I will charge at launch. In the mean time, I don't have to actually collect money to answer my biggest question: do people find my service valuable enough to pay?

I'm trying things solo this time and don't plan on incorporating at all until I have traction. Just seems like too much hassle and unnecessary expense that gets me no closer to product/market fit.

I agree with the message but this post is really lacking. Only 2 sentences are spent on why founders need hobbies and much more on a list that, as one of the other commenters already pointed out, is irresponsibly expensive for most founders

I balance slavish dedication with passion. The more I care, the less I mind putting in more time because it really doesn't feel like work. That works for me, at least while I'm young and hungry for startups. My approach changes dramatically

Made me raise an eyebrow too but I think Joel's previous business experience with Fog Creek will help them steer things in the right direction. I don't think a bubble-like spending spree is in their future.
