The GHG effect of Beef is much larger than wasted food, and it's x10 easier problem to solve.

It's a good litmus test. If we can't convince people to switch beef for chicken we're doomed.

Another point I find relevant is all your examples involved a non-trivial (possibly overwhelming for this crowd) use of violence (which I think you somewhat understated as civil disobedience ). So... do we have the stamina to ramp up our &

I think it's less? < 1B [tCO2eq] out of > 40 global annual emission. But make it 5% to account for underresearched impact of stratospheric emission.

Now that's a proper OOTB thinking. Monday is a wasted day anyhow full of "status meetings" and "week planning". Hopefully it'll get more traction than the low-quality "upgrade to 3.3.5".

I honestly don't understand this sentiment (other than shamelessly plugging your posts, which is ok). The tradeoff in any packaging mechanism is always "pin everything to the byte" for maximum security and minimum updateabili

I've read several "Dockerfile best practices" would-be tutorials, and this one stands out as both correct, concise, well explained, and ordered from simple and important to more nuanced. To the author - great job.

There are many similar stories. Famously Tesla's recollection of himself "inventing the inductive motor" while walking in some garden in Hungary, and the discovery of the Benzene ring.

India is one of the very few countries set to achieve a significant chunk of its Paris commitments. In fact, India is already a global leader in renewables, and it does so in objective conditions far worse than other countries have. [EDIT:

The fact a corp can not disclose its carbon footprint in 2019 demonstrates how far behind we are in legislation. It’s just a huge sad tragedy of the commons.

I agree we are likely at a point any single action is meaningless. For all we know, even with unheard of mobilization of global scale we’re heading towards a catastrophe that will shadow ww2. Nonetheless trying to do something seems the log

We need smart-gridness to reduce our dependency on idle fossil-burning power plants as a safety net to balance the now much less predictable grid. Strictly ecologically speaking, this seems problematic.

Depends on the quality of the education system, it well could be that a gap gathered by 8 will have a huge impact. The system can be quite competitive at 8 (and in some countries, as early as 5 or 6)
