TLDR - it's too hard to find senior C++ mobile devs. I'm more intrigued by AirBNB moving away from React Native - the linked article says "RN was too small a component to bother supporting, and the developer experience wasn&#

I left a comment the first time this was posted, but to reiterate, the MGS translations were excellent (and arguably better than later installments, though MGS3 was pretty high quality too). Jeremy played a huge part in launching an incredi

I’m surprised that Kojima didn’t take the “localisations” well. MGS was fantastically well received in the West, in no small part due to the story/translation. Anyone who’s read foreign literature knows that literal translations are al

I think these usually end up with two people agreeing to disagree :) Yes, you do lose source maps by transpiling, but in my (albeit fairly limited experience), the type checking means I have drastically less debugging to do in the first pla

I really don't think it adds complexity. Sure, it's going to be different , so there's a mental hurdle to clear in learning how a new stack works. That doesn't mean it's going to be more complex . > 1. I now ha

Can this transfer between languages? Say, I speak an English sentence, and we can clone my voice to Chinese. Apologies if this is in the paper, I’m on my phone so it’s difficult for me to peruse.

Yeah, I suspect it really requires a community of like-minded parents. Camp is a good start. For what it's worth, one state in Australia just announced a ban on phones during school hours - couldn't agree more. https://

Kudos to Evan and the team for listening to the community. There was a big pushback against the RFC, which can sometimes be attributed to sticks in the mud. In this instance, though, I do feel that the changes weren’t necessary. All API ch

For HTTP APIs, I'm a full convert to OpenAPI - write your API document by hand, then code-gen the client/server stubs. It requires a small investment upfront, but will pay huge dividends once your project is rolling. You have a si

When I heard about Atrium's fundraising, I assumed they had shown some pretty sophisticated ML under the hood (or at least a plan to do so). I thought that "conventional" platform tech - basically, document management - would

To be honest, I don't actually mind these changes. Grouping all exposed members together makes for a cleaner API and the functional style makes reuse a lot easier, so that should trim down code length. But.....that's not a suffici

I'm Australian, and I would never recommend that someone learn English by listening to one of my countrymen. We are lazy, nasal, slurred speakers. Standard English or American are much more preferable.

No point other than that it’s easy to forget that Western “enlightenment” is a very recent development. That’s not to equivocate bank account restrictions with being stoned for adultery. Or that we shouldn’t push for even moderate Islamic c
