It really depends on architecture version and profile. Recent application profiles allow it. On microcontrollers misaligned access is still mostly forbidden as far as I know.

The “unsolvable problem” the parent refers to is the problem of geometrically constructing a square with the same area as a circle. It has been proven to be impossible. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squaring_the_circl

On my aging Lynnfield i5 and spinning-rust HDD, GIMP takes 2 seconds to open (I just timed it - from pressing return in a terminal, to all windows appearing on screen). That is faster than most websites load these days. And I should add tha

For Spectrum, at least as far as ROM loader is concerned, decoding the signal is basically the matter of deciding whether a pulse is length t0 or t1. Technically it's FSK, but since each symbol is only one period long, it's more c

I guess it's a matter of preference. I often dislike this approach in talks on technical conferences, where the current trend seems to be to spin everything into a personal story, even when it's clearly forced. I don't mind r

This is good advice, because it also forces you to learn to edit what you've written. What I've seen is that editing is a separate skill from writing that needs some effort to learn. Maybe editing is not that important for blog po
