It is for flat roofs only I believe. However, Montreal does have a lot of "plexes" and small apartment buildings with flat roofs.

I manage a fablab used by grad students. We have both manual and CNC machines. Haas, too, but the cheaper stuff (TM and an older OM, VF stuf is $$$ for research budgets). The eternal compromise is this: it's way easier to dismember or

Something like this: http://shop.sdp-si.com/catalog/?cid=p593 So you can decide on a module/PA, buy a few diameters then cut off the required face width you need and machine the bore as needed.

Nonzero exit as an error is only a convention, no? I've definitely used CLI programs in the past that used nonzero codes to report all sorts of non-error statuses.

Another voice for AoC. It should make you have go into text and file processing (including regexps) and basic data structures (lists/arrays, hashmaps, trees, graphs). Maybe GUIs or image processing: it's never essential, but somet

RAM? Everytime I looked into setting up a freenas box, every hardware guide insisted that ungodly amounts of absolutely-has-to-be-ECC RAM was essential, and I just gave up at that point.

Indeed, for anyone curious, have a look at the 1985 Raleigh (a notable UK company at the time) catalog, and compare the "Road Sport" category with "Sport Touring": https://www.sheldonbrown.com/retroraleig

In many ways, modern gravel bikes are a comeback of the "sport touring" road bikes that were popular from roughly the mid 70s to the mid 90s, then became mostly absent from market. Compared with "racing" bikes, they had

Deflation is not something desireable in macroeconomics. It incentivizes hoarding cash instead of spending it on productive things (hiring people, capital investments to improve productivity, etc). Slow and steady inflation is a stated goal

I checked this out. Turns out I was aware of the one for my university, but they only host written documents. Mostly PhD theses, a few other bits and pieces. No code or huge datasets.

Maybe in large US universities? I work in research in a public university in Canada. IT is basically tech support, fix-my-email. There's no chance they would support hosting our data or any other sort of service. The university expects

Rebooting everytime you changed a setting in 9X got annoying pretty fast. Win2k brought the NT kernel to the masses, which was a huge improvement. True multi-user support, for starters.

I once was in a "DevOps" role with the responsibility of getting devs' "works on my machine" code to build in CI. Fun times trying to get code you didn't write to compile without knowing any context. Anyways, t

The article is about Canada, which has 5 years maximum mortgage term. After 5 years, you need to renew your mortgage at whatever interest rates are currently available.

Last I checked in Canada, N95 masks are still about 3$ a pop for disposable, single use masks from industrial distributors. Pre pandemic, we bought 3M 8210s for about 15 cents in boxes of 160. I wouldn't call the current situation avai

I just haven't been following the news that closely, especially for Ontario (I'm not in ON). No intent to "conveniently" hide information, though thanks for clarifying.

It's pretty easy to use C# (or even F#) to write excel add-ins that can be distributed as standalone XLL files. The difference is that add-ins is installed at the application level instead of the spreadsheet level (like VBA macros).
