The line of thought I am at least trying to present here is that we should have been talking about stories like this and making them well known that have been happening throughout the industry well before hitting MANGA companies.

No, because it has happened to others at companies in the past all the time to people have been complaining for years. By your logic we should only care about practices good or bad that happen at META companies, and the rest fall by the way

How am I "defending megacorps" right now? I am literally knocking them down because people are worshiping them and focusing only on the people affected by them instead of writing about this type of practice that has happened liter

No, I am saying things have sucked for people for years when it comes to layoffs. Many have similar stories as the person who this was written about now. Why is it only getting attention now with people who managed to get hired at a FAANG?

And how many times has that happened in the past with nobody batting an eye about it? Why does it only matter now that it's at a META company?

People are free to complain however they want, it just really irks me that this is suddenly getting press now because "META."

If he managed to get hired at META he will find work elsewhere. This is not worthy of a story suddenly just because it happened at a META company.

What about the case that happened so many times to contractors and employees like him in the past that didn't get coverage at lesser known companies? Why are so many people pretending to care now?

I have been laid off, or close to being laid off in that I had to leave, something like 3 different positions since the start of the pandemic and unemployed for around 6 months (doing amazing now in a recent role but that is besides the poi

The only surprising thing about this is that they didn't do it sooner given their history with how they handled previous layoffs: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/04/us/last-task-after-layoff...

I recommended rewriting the whole terraform infra code base in Crossplane sarcastically in the interview but my manager might be taking it seriously enough to want to see it implemented as a POC.

I just landed a $175k full time base gig that didn't ask about either of those, just terraform and kubernetes and AWS all day long. Also, my resume is riddled with nothing but short term stints since the start of the pandemic, but does

I left reddit about a month ago after having been on there for years, substituting in healthier habits like running, listening to music, and meditation when I need a break, and have been much happier as a result. HN is pretty good like 75 p

Yep, 100 percent this. I had to take several jobs recently that were not my passion but paid the bills. Of course, I also failed in those jobs because of that reason, but think I have finally found one that matches my interests and passions
