Horses for courses. Some people will respond better in one environment, others won't. There's no One True Way.

So, unless I've missed it in the comments here, what are the alternatives? Where are people putting their keys?

Perhaps "playing to the gallery", although the strong-arming aspect isn't quite there.

I'm genuinely curious how it came about that user-experience is now "try clicking, tapping, swiping, hitting a key" until something happens.

The large businesses have priced the smaller businesses out of 99% of the market. They leave only the crumbs from the table and pretend that's how "advertising" works now. It's not advertising, it's commodification

Can't tell if sarcastic.... squints How about this: everyone already knows what they need and where to get it. That really reduces the infernal waste of advertising completely.

Agreed, it's always refreshing to read candid posts like this. A useful term for Google is "startup post mortem" although you still have to do plenty of sifting.

What a wonderful thing to read on another day in covid isolation. Very sorry to hear about your father. He must be beyond delighted with what you've made.

Odd. I've always interpreted these tropes as caricatures of people who act _as if_ they're at war or at peace, not as binary exemplars. The world's a lot more complex than war/peace, surely?

Depends on the city. Also, the scooters and motorbikes might be part of the solution, and larger vehicles part of the problem.

You're right to still feel suspicious. Who's to say they didn't try 1,000 different post-hoc ideas? They declare only one, the may have been others. I'd be looking for preceding research and any published protocols, if I

From a startup perspective: Getting new combinations of stuff to work, even "enterprise" grade stuff, can be a messy horror-show, at least initially. There's no point-and-click, no slick GUI, no whizzy installer. Instead ther
