Handful of interesting/data-driven organizations in the Bay Area dispel exactly this. It was eye opening to me to attend some of their public events where they run through their data.

No one claimed it would be “solving plastic pollution in oceans.” Fairly disingenuous statement.

The X-15 only has one seat. No one is saying Southwest passengers are “pilots” because of auto-pilot, though.

Well said! I would imagine if I have to manufacture my own wings — like Southwest does for children — that’s the dead giveaway this ain’t the real thing.

“Pilots” is the key word. There are not X-15 “passengers” so there’s not a comparison to be had imho.

It’s not a development. Court-authorized public/private patching initiatives have long existed. They’re much higher profile and news worthy theses days, though.

That’s...now how any of this works. You can’t just change integrity-bearing things without FIM systems kicking in. And you’d need collusion to get something mainlined that would bypass that.

The vast majority of retail banking institutions do not run their core. They outsource it to the major core vendors to ‘protect themselves from themselves’. It’s atypical motivation but one of the few verticals I know of where the cloud is

I’m unaware of any Core Banking Systems (CBS) that runs on a cloud provider with the exception being Finastra (Azure). Other parts of retail banking stacks? Sure. Not their cores.
