The notion that government should be in charge of effectively eliminating speech we don't like so that private companies don't have to is _far worse_ than the current state of things.

You should ask other founders about this. I wouldn’t leave important decisions up to HN’s crowdsourced truth-seeking.

Those do seem irrelevant to me. The cannabis one caught my eye though.

Having watched a lot of these stories go down one thread in many of them is Stripe was required by some combination of regulators/banks to freeze funds of someone who has been selling cannabis, and because of privacy cannot openly say

$165/year for software isn’t nutty. Stuff is expensive to build. If it’s useful enough you pay. If it’s not you don’t. I believe the tech stack is clojure, which makes a ton of sense given that the data store is basically a graph datab

I'm genuinely curious: How do you value your time? If you're an engineer who is paid $150/hour and Copilot saves you 5 minutes/month it just paid for itself.

There’s a difference between business plan and Business Plan, so to speak - a formalized document with a pretty standardized format you used to have if you, for example, wanted to get a loan from a bank. It’s mostly gone away, but there use

Seems like a lot of people are missing the point of this one. PG/YC invest at the earliest stages. The information they need is pretty much: 1. What are you doing? 2. Do people like it? 3. How big is the market? 4. What are you/te

I have no idea whether we’re in a massive bubble (or whether everything is simply more expensive because of inflation or both), but I have learned you should never blindly trust the advice of someone who uses terms like “two sigma” and “thr

Eh, because one’s time is valuable/expensive and most people would love to have more time doing what they love. It’s cool that he doesn’t want to monetize it, but I would absolutely understand if he did. You don’t have a hit like that

You're assuming zero revenue. At a total spend of $250k/yr if you can figure out how to bring in $150k/yr of revenue ($12,500/month) you've got 5 years of runway now.

Yes, NPS is an imperfect measure, as all are. What I’ve never seen is a great argument for what one should use instead.

It sounds like it's a failure of coordination more than anything; a broken system not a person acting in a way that should lead to termination (unless they are unwilling to fix said system over time).

No, if you give back to your investors they may still hold the stock; it’s up to them what to do. You’re just transferring the stock from your account to theirs.

The title is wrong. This is simply a technicality. If USV moves the shares to another fund or distributes them back to their investors (LPs) they would appear here. This does not mean that they “dumped” 100% of their shares.
