Even as an experiment with the sole purpose of learning stuff and having fun I find Arduino libs tend to hide all the fun stuff effectively diminishing the learning experience. Sometimes it's good to reinvent the wheel (like writing th

I for one still have plenty of esp8266 based nodemcu/wemos around the house, they still do just fine for most hobbyist purposes and the RTOS SDK is just as pleasant to use as ESP-IDF. Most of the API is the same and they have example c

The main problem with C++ is that it's too vast, it does everything and everyone has its very own choice of a subset of the language he should use. The result is codebases hard to navigate, code hard to undestand with lots of clever co

It's more expensive but also sometimes impossible for space constraints. If you designed a product with the sdcard in mind it can't be difficult to make room for an external SSD.

All my RPis had some kind of corruption sooner or later. At some point we blamed the shitty sdcard, but it happens with the supposedly good ones too. With the shitty ones I had unrecoverable boot and fs corruptions. With the good ones it is

why would you squash multiple informative commits with their commit messages and their informative context about your thought process into a single big squashed commit? git can merge branches and keep track of it, there is no need to squash

I tend to stage everything I do in my local branches, experiments, hacks, partial changes I don't have time to finish right now, unfinished refactorings. No way I share that without rebasing it and cleaning it up first.
