You could use a syntax highlighting theme where reserved words are gray for instance (if you want them to fade into the background).

That sounds wrong to me because then you will have duplications of the postconditions after each call. I haven't experienced any unwieldiness of having them at the end of a function.

Design by contract, i.e. preconditions and postconditions, is also a good complement to unit tests. int f(int n) { int result; assert(n >= 0); /*precondition*/ ... assert(result >= 0); /*pos

Niklaus Wirth is most famous for Pascal but the best language is his last, namely Oberon which is both smaller and more capable than Pascal. If you are interested in a freestanding compiler (separate from the operating system Oberon), have

> That’s not encapsulation, that’s just an ugly hack. Call it what you want but it works well. Declaring a variable or function as static corresponds to "private". I honestly don't understand what you mean by "locally

What you call an abstract data structure is what I have learned is called a concrete data type. To my understanding an abstract data structure is a module with global (single instance) private data which is manipulated using the module'

The comparison price is often tiny though: "The price per unit is displayed with a font size of roughly 20 mm while the comparison price is just under 2 mm" (freely translated from Swedish) https://www.riksdagen.se/

Many people want a "smaller" phone but the only options seem to be iPhone SE and iPhone Mini. Why aren't there more small models? Isn't the market economy supposed to solve this? For me the iPhone SE has the perfect size

That's indeed a drawback of function call syntax compared to method call syntax where the object comes before the name of the method.

I think the quote below applies to both Oberon and Component Pascal. "Programming languages are like cats. It is easier to get a new cat than to get an old cat fixed. Most successful languages are ultimately replaced by upstarts. Remod

The latest revision of Oberon has several implementations. Also, OBNC can be used on Windows, macOS, Linux and other POSIX compliant operating systems. Component Pascal has a single implementation which is Windows only. Oberon was created b

I think it's due to a lack of freestanding compilers when the project was launched. People expected a new programming language from Niklaus Wirth but what they got was a language and an operating system, the latter which was too differ

I can recommend OBNC: https://miasap.se/obnc/ With this compiler you can also write interfaces to existing C libraries without too much pain. This is achieved without any (non-standard) additions to the language.
