> Functional programming is a big mistake for some real-world code. Generalizing much? I write C# for a living, Elixir in my free time, I would take Elixir codebase any day of the week. If you try to write C# in a strictly functional fas

Sure let me "tailor my CV" to a role just to get ghosted or offered laughable salary. I'm just gonna make friends of random people from that company that don't know me, presumably by cold approaching them via LinkedIn? L

I've just spent over two months looking for a Senior role in EU. I believe EU landscape is vastly different than US but I noticed similar trends. I had a ton of 'offers' on LinkedIn. I applied to few dozens. I got any kind of

I have 6 years of experience and it took two months of active recruiting(since July) for me for Senior/upper Regular positions in non-faang companies. I ended up getting a pretty decent but boring project in a small company that pays r

Except if you go to most language/tech stack subreddit you'll quite quickly realize there's no experts there, just a bunch of barely experienced people following blog posts blindly. I tried keeping up with .NET subreddit but

Most of those EU remote jobs will not even glance at your resume twice if you don't have x years of experience in their stack. I know this because I just ended a two month long interview loop for remote positions within EU as a senior

It is easy. You can write C# in anything these days, Rider becoming a favorite pretty quickly for many. Everything like dotnet CLI just works on Linux too.

I have similar opinion to some other comments. Some Azure services - like Application Insights - I absolutely loved, some I hated, CosmosDB, being the latter. They needed years to finally introduce PATCH in CosmosDB, Request Units feel like

That sounds like an issue you would have with or without post on HN. How did you solve that and how did it affect your hiring numbers? It feels like HN would at least attract way more technical people than generic job boards.

I had an awesome manager/lead in my last semi-corporate job but there are no miracles, they can't go above certain threshold. Within big orgs there are brackets they have to adhere to, even if they know you're a flight risk.

That's exactly what I'm doing right now except I get around 70-80k eur as a contractor. Take home as a single 20something guy is insane and allows you to buy a decent house for cash in 3-4 years near a major city. The only thing m

I'd argue about central EU. It's really hard to find decent remote job in .NET in EU - I know because Im trying right now. Most well paid ones are Node and Golang from what I've seen. There's quite a chunk of Java but I

If you look through f.e. justjoin.it, most Senior offers are between 20-30k pln(4,2-6,3k eur), most western companies will offer you 40 eur/h from my recent experience which would amount to 6,4k eur/mo. I'm personally looking

I'm sorry for maybe being too frank but 35 eur/h is way too little. It's a bit below full time employment rates level even for Poland. You can get 40eur/h almost instantly anywhere. Some agencies are willing to pay up to
