I always assumed their system is simply to tell you roughly whether to expect the person to be online soonish. And I would find it too invading to have exact numbers - e.g. in WhatsApp almost everyone I know disables that.

You are missing the point that you can use the same algorithm to compress N → infinity images. So the algorithm size amortizes.

One thing I was thinking when reading this is that minecraft is visually based on the real world. A human opening it for the first time immediately knows that a tree is a tree. Seeing someone else then cutting it down allows the brain to do

I cook vegetarian Italian food myself often but honestly find that the cuisine is still very much meat based. Good luck finding a vegetarian main dish ("secondo") in Italy (outside of Milano).

It would cache data off-machine into fault-tolerant storage. If the machine broke I would like to go to any other machine and resume work within a few seconds without losing any data. If my machine was stolen I would like it to be totally
