I thought my account was hacked and ssh keys removed. Panicked a little bit and then double checked that my keys were still there. Then went to github status and calmed down.

I'd go as far as to say that the role doesn't matter, it's the attitude of the individual. I've worked with a few developers AND sales people that didn't give a hoot about what their customers thought. In the case o

JetPens does a great job in teaching you about different pens, and recommending them too. They’re the real deal. Their social media and YouTube people should get raises haha. I have learned a lot from their videos.

I'm not so sure. In nVidia's keynote, they had an example of small smoke plumes identified as potential fires. If you had a drone hovering over a particular city to monitor fires, it could potentially be an early warning system, n

Parents with strollers/babies benefit from elevators. And old people and people with mobility issues also benefit from elevators. Those are the two extremes (babies, and old people). And everyone in between would also benefit any time

Whoa, I knew about them uninviting DHH (a move I disagreed with), but I didn't know about all these events that followed. If I was deciding to attend a conference, I would 100% prefer to attend one where DHH and other pioneers are orga

Can we please get a broader TL;DR of what happened? Who is RailsWorld? Was there increased competition from a global conference? Is RailsConf attendance declining enough to sunset the conference?

The change is that when I am immersed in that scenario (on holiday and without any normal life distractions so I can truly learn about this topic), then my mind is the most curious about that topic. The alternative is that when I return fro

Depends on which country. In places like India that’s not possible. Your cell phone number becomes a de facto identity so they require all kinds of identity documents to get a SIM.

Yeah it can definitely be a crutch too in some situations. I notice it with my kids where they’ll want to tell me about something but then seek a video or something to show it. Sometimes I have to say “no! just use your words to describe it

Same here. The ability to “talk to an expert” about any topic I’m curious about and ask very specific questions has been invaluable to me. It reminds me of being a kid and asking my grandpa a million questions, like how light bulbs worked,

Yeah I’m totally familiar with the TT. I was a fan of MotoGP growing up. It is absolutely bonkers to me. But can you expand a bit on “completely unrelated bystanders” because spectators also know the risks of being a spectator. It’s crazy.

To me the real evil is providers like Twilio that are happy to not enforce this stuff cuz it makes them tons of money. They’re like the Facebook/instagram of SMS, talk a big game but happily let all the stuff continue to happen.

This is great from a practical standpoint (being able to predict weather), but does it actually improve our understanding of the weather, or WHY those predictions are better? That is my issue with some of these AI advances. With these, we w
